Use Clueless to manage Reverse DNS

I would like to be able to use Clueless to manage reverse DNS entries for my IP addresses
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 23.11.2010
There are a couple of ways customers can manage reverse DNS:

1) If the reverse is to be on a domain that we already run DNS for, then you can add A+Reverse entries, which will automatically add the reverse record.

2) If we don't run DNS for the domain that you want to use, then we can add that domain to the control pages and you can then add 'Reverse' records.

3) We can manually add the relevant in-addr.arpa zone to your control page, and you can add records.

4) We can delegate to your own nameservers - this is set up under the Login part of the control pages.

However, are you suggesting something simple, such as a page which lists your IP addresses, and a box to type in the reverse entry?

Response from the site administrator

It's a bit hard for us check sync rate on all lines as that involved running BT status tests, and we're limited to the number of tests we can run.

However, we do currently email when a line reaches a 135K BRAS rate, and perhaps that could be modified so that it emailed on a pre-defined BRAS rate, or perhaps one determined automatically based on the first ever BRAS rate we get from BT.

We'll discuss internally to see what would be best.

Thanks for the idea.
The invoice we send contains a PDF of the calls, and optionally an XML version too. Historic PDF and XML invoices are available from the Accounts system (http://bill.me.uk).
However, upon request Staff are able to generate csv export of the call stats.
if this idea has interest lots of votes the we may add a csv export option.

offer WLR3

Please offer bundled telecoms/DSL packages using BT's WLR3 so that I can avoid having to deal with BT Retail. If you can bundle in competitive VoIP services as well, even better!

This is already in progress, it's taking time, but it is getting there. We have some final things to do on the ordering side and the billing. At the moment customers can order pstn lines from us, but we're unable to allow outgoing calls. -contact sales for more information.

Provide an option for 10Mbps upstream on FTTC without having to buy premium

IDnet charges £1.20 per month additional for 10Mbps upstream, could you provide a similar option for those of us who want the extra throughput but don't care about prioritisation?

Give lines in clueless a "Friendly" name.

This could be used in conjunction with the SMS monitoring for line down etc. so it is easy to identify quickly which line on a site may be down. We use your services for temporary events where we may have 20 lines on a site with temp. phone...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 14.12.2010
This has been done. A 'Note' can be set on an individual line, which is then shown in search results and when viewing that line.

Reduce status page size

I need to look at the http://status.aaisp.net.uk page during an outage for obvious reasons. This seems to require an incredible amount of traffic that I pay for by the megabyte at quite an expensive rate. At the moment the main page itself is...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 15.11.2010
We'd like to better layout and organise the front page of the status page, as it can get cluttered and unclear which posts are important and current... Feel free to add comments on suggestions, but this will be looked in to.

Advertise this ideas site more? First time I've ever heard of it.

Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 20.10.2010
It is linked to on the bottom of our web pages and the contact page, but now we're re-launched it, we'll make it more prominent. (eg from the control pages and status page)

Add IP adddress restrictions as an option for VoIP accounts

Recently A&A have had problems with VoIP hacking. To make it harder, let users configure IP ranges for access to their VoIP accounts, with an easy option for "all my A&A IPs".
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.10.2010
We now have a feature to restrict to a single IP now. For a SIP phone or a phone server that would be fine. We are not planning to extend this to ranges or lists of IPs as it is a per-number setting.

Disable SMS for Line Up/Down events on Data SIMs

I've got my account set up to text & email me when my ADSL line goes down unexpectedly. That's very useful. Since getting a RevKMobile Data SIM (which is very useful), the system tends to send me text messages about the state of my data SIM at...

incoming folder for "donated" tcpdumps of known-goodPPPoE exchanges

so people can "donate" known-good tcpdumps of cheap plastic router PPPoE exchanges to aid troubleshooting/design for uber-geeks and ISP gurus. So many el-cheapo routers with different firmwares out there makes it a nightmare to get to the bottom...

Would be helpful to note relevant items like replacement routers, extension re-wiring etc.

Toggle night shading on graphs

I find that having night shading on my graphs (I'm a reseller so have a few screenfuls of graphs) is information over-kill. I do think it will be helpful in the future but it would be nice to disable it unless it's needed.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 15.10.2010
We've added a tickbox next to the Graph Opts boxes which will enable/disable the daylight hours overlay.
This is on a per-login basis, so when you log in to Clueless all graphs will use these settings.

Easier DNS management

If you manage a small network, it's not too bad. But it can start to get confusing real fast when the network starts to grow. You could run your own DNS server, but I rather rely on more reliable ones, AAISPs'. Possible Solution: Something a...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 15.10.2010
The control pages will be re-vamped over time - eg we've recently updated the pages for controlling VoIP numbers. Other pages will follow over time.
We've added a drop-down of other domains on your account to the edit domain page, as well as some simple ordering of the DNS record table.

Remove/hide the "log" entries in status posts

The readability of the status page entries is spoiled by the verbose "Log" sections. It would look cleaner if they were hidden behind a "verbose" link or something similar.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 02.03.2011
Done - they shouldn't have been shown anyway. Thank you.

Have the status pages be able to be ordered by different things

The current ordering seems to be a little difficult to decypher! For instance, today the top item was closed at 11am, and the second was closed on the 26th October, with more recent things below it, so I don't understand the rules that determine...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 25.11.2010
We are currently (ie now!), creating a new front page for the status page - this will make things much clearer and simpler. eg splitting the front page posts in to categories rather than a whole list.

Status pages have now been updated.

The line links in clueless such as Log and Usage open in new windows. If I wanted a link to open in a new window I'd do it myself.

Clarify Line Bonding page

http://aaisp.net/kb-broadband-bonding.html Under 'IP routing' (near bottom of page), sentence reads: "Secondary routes also control the allowed source IPs for uplink even when the primary lines are active." Please could this be clarified?...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 30.11.2010
As the latter - uplink traffic from IPs is allowed where there are tickboxes.
The lines being up or down doesn't have an affect on this. If you have 2 lines, and an IP block is set for Primary on Line 1, and Secondary on line 2, then you can upload traffic on any line, but we will only send traffic to you on line 1. However, if line 1 goes down, then we'll send you the traffic on line 2 instead. I'll update the page to clarify. Thank you for the feedback.

make outgoing voip calls through your service without having any numbers from you.

Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 10.12.2010
You can use us for outgoing and use a different company for your incoming. You will need to purchase a number from us though - as our system requires a number. however, you don't need to publish that number or use it for incoming... A number just costs £1/month, so you'll just pay that and can make your calls. We can set the caller id at our end to match your real number if you like (there is an extra setup cost for that though).
I hope this helps.

Have additional TTLs available in clueless's DNS editor

When using the DNS editor on clueless, the drop-down box for TTL has "1 second", "1 minute", "1 hour", "1 day". This is rather coarse-grained -- "1 second" and "1 minute" (and "1 minute" and "1 hour") are nearly two orders of magnitude apart....
